Building your side hustle into a full time business is a lot of work and requires time and attention. Trying to juggle your 9 to 5 job, family and personal life alongside that can make your life crazy. Burnout is a real issue with this hectic lifestyle. Today, I will be sharing 7 tips to help you juggle your full-time job and side hustle.
Identify your priorities
We cannot do everything. We are only human and we need time to sleep, eat and simply relax. We are not machines designed to run 24/7. Therefore, in order to find balance we need to first identify what our priorities are. What goals or tasks are most important to you? What do you need to do to on a daily, weekly and monthly basis to ensure that you are making the most of your time, energy and attention while achieving the maximum effect?
Schedule, schedule, schedule
After determining your priorities, scheduling is the next best thing. You need to put those tasks into your calendar so that you can clearly visualise your day, week or month. Blocking off tasks in your calendar of choice is vital in keeping you on track and showing you how to make the best use of your time.
You know what you have to get done, when you have to get it done and how long you have to do it. Of course adjustments may need to be made because life never goes as plan. But having this visual template will help you stay on top of your many tasks without fear of forgetting something important.
Make time for self-care
Remember, the key to success is to work smart and play hard. Self-care is so important for everyone but especially for the hustlers out there. Stop sacrificing your sleep, mental and physical health for success. True success should incorporate self-care practices. I know you want to make it big, be your own boss and take control of your financial future but you cannot accomplish anything if you are too tired to focus, too grumpy with your clients, moody with your loved ones or too exhausted to move. It is more detrimental to your success if you do not take care of yourself than if you do. Make self-care a priority.
Utilise your lunch hour
Why not take advantage of the free time you have on work to do some simple tasks such as responding to messages or emails, or writing a quick draft for a new blog post. Take the first 30 minutes to enjoy your lunch, rest your eyes and relax, then get some side hustle work done or vice versa.
Get to work earlier
Since starting back to work this week, I have made it a priority to go to bed early and wake up early so that I can arrive at work early. That way I have at least 45 minutes to 1 hour to invest into my blog or other tasks each morning. That is already 4 hours and 15 minutes to 5 hours of time into my side hustle. You can even use that time to learn new skills or gather information.
Make the most of your commute
Your commute is another chunk of time to tap into. Listen to a podcast, read a book, email or make notes so that you are a one step closer to accomplishing your goals.
Use your weekends
The weekend represents 32 hours of free time to utilise, sleep time excluded. Let Saturday be a work day like any other but entirely focused on your own business. Go all out here if you want and stay up late. However, be sure to sleep in on Sunday so that your body and mind can rejuvenate. You can then spend 2 to 3 hours doing administrative work or whatever else is on your agenda and use the rest of the day for self-care.
