After spending most of the day in front of some kind of device, it is nice to put away all technology, even if it is for an hour, and relax. Today I present 5 unique, device-free ways that you can incorporate into your routine to help you unwind after work.
Explore your creativity
After using our analytical brain most of the day, let lose by allowing your creativity to flow freely. Draw, paint, write, colour, craft something or make a dish. Enjoy the process as you relax and produce something concrete.
Take an evening cruise
Get everyone in the vehicle and take a drive around the neighborhood or surrounding area. Listen to music, chat and catch up on each others day while enjoying the tour of your area. Make it even more fun by playing an engaging game like I spy. If you do not have a car, then bundle up and go for a leisurely walk.
Have fun outdoors
Not interested in going out for a drive then have fun in your yard. Put out a chair and relax and watch the sunset. Sip your favourite cup of tea while admiring the beauty of the world around you. You may also spread a blanket or sleeping bag and watch the stars or put out your camping tent and tell or read a spooky or happy story.
If it is too cold outside, make a blanket fort inside. Or sit by the window and watch the stars, snow or rain as the day ends and the world goes to sleep.
Karaoke or family music night
Sunday night I had a wonderful time with my siblings and partner, listening to music, dancing and singing out loud. All the lights were off and he (my partner) put the Christmas lights up inside to give the place a nice and cozy disco effect. It was great, relaxing and bonding experience. Have your on version of this night with your family or on your own.
Make sure to only use a radio or CD player. But if you have to use your phone for music, just select your favourite playlist or album and let it play. No face to screen time allowed.
Intimacy & Pleasure
I think this topic is a bit neglected and feels a bit taboo but we all have bodies to explore so why not derive some stress-relief from it. However, intimacy does not necessarily mean sex but connecting deeply with someone or yourself. Talk or write about your day and really unload all your worries, fears or insecurities. Then highlight all your accomplishments and happy moments.
Get intimate with your partner or self and embrace pleasure through sex, masturbation, self massages or by giving or receiving one. You do not need anyone else to give you pleasure. Shake off your embarrassment or uncertainty and marvel at the wonderful creation that is your body. Learn want makes you feel good. It is a great way to release endorphins and help you relax.
