When Your Mind Develops A Mind Of Its Own — Mindfulness

I read a post from a fellow blogger recently that talks about how the mind wanders easily and can easily become stuck on negative thoughts. What a relief this post was. I have experience lots of distressing thoughts in my life that have left me anxious and afraid for my sanity and integrity. Hearing that these thoughts are a result of anxiety and not the other way around is a relief. Knowing I’m not alone and that this is common is also a comfort to me.

Ways to Ease Anxiety

  • Take a time out doing something that brings you joy
  • Get enough quality sleep
  • Remember to breath
  • Count to ten
  • Try meditation
  • Get active
  • Try yoga
  • Eat a balanced meal
  • Be kind to yourself
  • Journal
  • Don’t forget to laugh
  • Speak to someone or a counselor
  • Go outdoors and connect with nature
  • Drink plenty water
  • Treat yourself
  • Surround yourself with the things you love
  • Engage your senses: sight (pictures), hearing (music), scent (essential oils), touch (pet, stuffed animal or child) and taste (tea)
